Dynamic Grouping of CMS Items with Group Labels

Dear Framer Team,
I’d like to propose a feature that would significantly enhance the flexibility of Framer’s CMS for many use cases, including event calendars, blog archives, product listings, and more.
Feature Request:
Enable the ability to dynamically group CMS items by a specified field (e.g., date, category, tag) and display group labels (e.g., month names or categories) directly on the page.
Suggested Functionality:
- Dynamic Grouping:
• Provide an option to group CMS items based on a selected field (e.g., group by month if the field is a date).
- Automatic Group Labels:
• Allow Framer to generate and display customizable labels for each group (e.g., “January 2024,” “February 2024”).
- Customizable Design:
• Enable users to style group labels as headers, sticky elements, or other design components directly within Framer.
- Integration with Filters:
• Ensure compatibility with filtering logic, such as hiding past items or showing archived content elsewhere.
Use Case Example:
For an event calendar:
• Events can be grouped by month dynamically.
• Group headers like “January 2024” or “February 2024” are displayed automatically.
• Sticky headers can indicate which section the user is scrolling through.
• Past events can be automatically filtered out from the main view and shown in a separate archive.
This feature would open up a range of possibilities for Framer users without requiring custom coding solutions.
Thank you for considering this request! Please let me know if you’d like me to elaborate further or provide more examples.
Cheers,
Cyrill
